Library

Located in our iconic ‘Hinder House’, MHS Library is a positive and welcoming learning space for all members of the school community. The library is a flexible, dynamic and engaging space that supports whole-school literacy and learning.

We have frequent installations, exhibitions and initiatives in collaboration with students and other KLAs. This gives students ownership of the space and a place to celebrate their talents.

The school library is home to a number of valuable resources for both students and teachers. It is a place to read, research, and gain knowledge and skills. Students can engage in deep discussions, creative thinking and take part in social activities. It is an integral part of not only the academic, but social and cultural aspects of a school.

Students can browse our collections online using Oliver, our web-based library system.

"The school library provides information and ideas that are fundamental to functioning    successfully in today's information and knowledge-based society. The school library equips students with lifelong learning skills and develops the imagination, enabling them to live as responsible citizens."

— International Federation of Library Association's (IFLA) Manifesto (1999) (Links to an external site.)

The school library has a vast collection of fiction resources located downstairs, and non-fiction resources upstairs. There are computers and laptops available for student use, with students being able to access educational games during break times.

The school library will soon introduce a Makerspace for students. This is a space where students can come together to develop creative projects. Makerspaces foster exploration and collaborative learning. It is important the library cater to the growing needs of students by providing a space which encourages problem-solving, sparks curiosity and leads to innovative solutions.
